City University of Cairo Launches the First Edition of Its Cultural Salon for the Academic Year 2024/2025

City University of Cairo inaugurated the first edition of its Cultural Salon for the academic year 2024/2025 by hosting the prominent media personality Dr. Gamal El Shaer.
The event took place on Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2025, under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Marwan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim, University President. The opening ceremony was attended by faculty deans, the university secretary-general, faculty members, and a large number of students from across the university.
The seminar was moderated by Prof.  Hassan Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, who welcomed the guest and introduced the session. The University President, Prof.  Mohamed Ibrahim, spoke about the importance of cultural and student activities in raising awareness and fostering patriotism among youth. He also warmly welcomed Dr. El Shaer, highlighting his influential media and cultural journey as a source of inspiration for the university’s students.
The salon coordinator provided a detailed introduction to Dr. El Shaer’s contributions to Egypt’s cultural landscape, particularly his leadership role at the Nile Cultural Channel and his influence in cultural media.
In his keynote talk, Dr. Gamal El Shaer shared his inspiring journey of success, the challenges he overcame, and how he reached his intellectual stature. He then recited several of his poems, which resonated strongly with the students and were warmly received by the faculty.
The event concluded with a cultural competition in which five students from the Faculties of Physical Therapy, Economics and Commerce, and Fine Arts won top prizes. The winners were honored by Dr. Tarek Marwan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim, University President, who awarded each of them a university shield and a financial prize. Additionally, a special monetary award outside the competition was generously presented by the University President.
